Discover the hidden gem " La Leona Waterfall"

At the heart of the volcanic formations of the Rincon de la Vieja volcano lies La Leona waterfall, an unparalleled natural wonder. Getting there is a unique adventure, partly on land and sometimes directly in the river.

A hike of around 4 kilometers in total for a walk of around 3 hours where you’ll observe the dry tropical forest on the Pacific side of the Rincon Volcano. You’ll learn about the volcano’s amazing history and how it got its name, immerse yourself in raw nature! This adventure is not for everyone: people with motor, leg or knee problems should refrain.

For thrill-seekers, you can combine a visit to La Leona Falls with tubing down the Colorado River. A river with class 2 to 3 rapids, this is one of our visitors’ favorite activities!
